Keep Away from Pirated Software
Pirating software may be extremely cheap and often free, but they may cost you your digital security. There are unknown publishers and no standard testing procedures in place; therefore, pirated software can contain several security flaws which hackers can use to gain access to your computer. Reportedly, one in every three pirated software carries malware that can damage a computer or steal the user’s personal information.
If infected pirated software was not worrisome enough, the websites that host pirated software often redirect their visitors to potentially dangerous websites which could end infecting their computer with a variety of threats such as bots, adware, potentially unwanted applications (PUA) and even ransomware. Another reason to avoid pirating software is due to the fact that they do not receive software updates necessary for patching security vulnerabilities; this leaves you at risk of attackers exploiting you.
Important security steps to take
Only use licensed software that has verified publishers.
Avoid downloading cracked/pirated versions of any software.
Avoid downloading and installing activators for activating OS or other software.
